The Conservatory Brass Ensemble played at the opening of the Third-Term Inauguration Ceremony for Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg at City Hall. Professor Douglas Hedwig conducted the ensemble in the premiere of his Promenade for a Great City. The 15 performers included conservatory students Jessica Ashcraft (trumpet), Keon DePass (trumpet), Daniel Filstrup (trumpet), Dana DeSiena (horn), Melissa Danas (horn), Eric Hanrehan (horn), David Whitwell (trombone), Bradley Madsen (trombone), Thomas Lynaugh (trombone), Paul Tripo (euphonium), Chad Walther (tuba), Christopher Morales (trumpet), Juliana Crifasi (trumpet) and Christian Alonzo (trombone) as well as alumnus Marshall Nichols (trumpet).

Larry Robinson (candidate, B.Mus., composition and viola performance, 2010) was accepted to the M.A./Ph.D. program in ethnomusicology at UCLA, where he has been offered a prestigious four-year Eugene V. Cota Robles Fellowship for full financial support of his graduate studies. He will begin his studies in fall 2010.
